In the summer of 2014, I had relocated to Michigan from Ohio with my company after spending the previous two years working long hours in a my job while simultaneously pursuing my MBA.  My priorities shifted and unfortunately my health and fitness fell to the bottom of the list.
 
In addition to moving, I was recently engaged and planning a wedding for June of 2015.  I was ready to get my life back on track but didn't know where to start, which brought me to The RAC and personal training with Lanie Schrubba.  I had never used personal training, always tackling fitness on my own, but noticed a stark difference in my results through my experience of using a trained and knowledgeable professional.
 
After three months of working with Lanie twice a week, I stepped on the scale and had gained six pounds.  I was crushed!  I came into my next session with Lanie complaining that my hard work wasn't paying off.  She marched me right back to the consultation room and took my stats.  I may have gained six pounds, but my measurements revealed I had actually lost seven pounds of fat and gained 13 pounds of muscle!  These were results, I could feel and see, which the scale would never reflect.
 
In April of 2015 I ran my third full marathon.  In the previous two marathons I had run, I solely focused on training runs. This was the first time I had incorporated weight and strength training.  The difference in my performance was stark.  I had more stamina, felt stronger and was more focused during my run.
 
When my wedding day finally arrived,  I felt amazing. Lanie helped me focus on areas of my body I really wanted to tone and build muscle.  It was the happiest day of my life and I felt my best, too.  It's also great to note, that through training with Lanie, I also developed a friend, and I was happy to have her as a guest at my wedding to help me celebrate!
 
I highly recommend personal training at The RAC...it's an investment of time, and let's be honest, money, although one that was well worth it in the journey to achieving health and fitness!

I was 28 years old and 220 pounds and felt unconfident walking into a gym. While previous experiences at other gyms were bad, I still wanted to try. I wanted to be healthy. My friend told me about Haley, so I met with her and had a simple goal of losing 30 pounds by my 29th birthday goal. It was a big goal, but go big or go home. Not the strongest girl, I hated running, and I complained, like a lot. But Haley never let me down. She encouraged me, showed me modifications to make my workouts to my level. So I never gave up. I pushed through and I gave 110%, because my trainer never gave up and pushed me 110%. I started to lose weight and gain energy, strength, and a new outlook on how I was eating. I've gained a healthier lifestyle, more motivation, a positive attitude and lost a total of 60 pounds. I could not have done it without the push from Haley. I absolutely love being a member here because I feel welcome.

My goal when I started working out with Doug was to tone up my body after having my third child. In the year & a half I have been working with him, I have achieved just that & more. Doug enjoys working with his clients & personalizes every workout. He always pushes me just a little bit more. Doug is passionate about fitness & health and shares that passion with every client.

I certainly would love to endorse Doug and his style of training. Doug has met my criteria of being a great trainer.  He is patient, professional and organized. He keeps great records of my training achievements and the goals in weight training (especially strength training that I focus to achieve).
 
Doug has a gentle demeanor and is completely focused on the client during training sessions.  His personality complements his training style; always positive and keeps things professional with a high regard for the integrity and is competent in knowledge of exercise physiology and nutrition.
I have trained for many years with many different trainers in Illinois.  I can accomplish as much in a 30 minute session with Doug as in 60 minutes with other trainers. He keeps workouts fast paced and focused. 
 
I train with Doug because he guarantees a safe and injury free training session. He is committed to taking precautions, especially for my hands and wrists, and modifies my workouts accordingly.

I can't say enough good things about the RAC. We joined the RAC over a year ago when my twins were 6 months old. It has become like a second home for us. My children love the child care staff and enjoy coming each day. I enjoy the excellent classes that have helped me get into the best shape of my life. But my favorite thing is the SPA like women's locker room. It's a huge treat for me to sit in the nice steam room after working out and then take a private shower. It's truly an outstanding facility.

I can not say enough good things about my personal trainer Angelica Miller. Working with her has truly been a blessing.
 
During our initial session in October 2015 when she was getting my baseline numbers she took my blood pressure and I could tell by the look on her face that something was wrong. My blood pressure was sky high and she advised me to see a Doctor immediately. I was able to get in to see my Doctor  and he confirmed the numbers that she had told me,  180/120. Angelica was truly my Guardian Angel. 
 
It is now mid January 2016 and since October I’ve lost 12 lbs and have dropped one pants size going on two. Angelica is vey knowledgeable and put me on a program that has made me stronger, and I have much more energy and endurance. I cannot say enough about Angelica’s knowledge and expertise. Going to the RAC and hiring her to be my trainer is one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I now not only have a personal trainer I have a very good friend.
 
Rick:
Dylan is a great trainer. He made a point of understanding my goals, motivations and lifestyle and he designs workouts that fit my needs. Most importantly, Dylan gets results.  I'm a novice Triathlete. Before I began with Dylan, I had limited flexibility, minimal core strength and diminished aerobic capacity.  Dylan helped me target each weakness.  The workouts are challenging, but he is always there reminding me of my goals.  As a result of my work with Dylan, my flexibility has drastically improved and my core strength and stamina have increased as well. I am much stronger now and I expect my race results to be better this year.  I feel like my goals are his goals.  It’s a great partnership.
